SunTek Ultra Defense PPF Maximizes Protection On Tesla Model Y

The owner of this Tesla Model Y wanted to maximize the protection from damage caused by rocks, road debris and other various enemies to the paint. For owners that want that extra element of protection, we offer SunTek Ultra Defense PPF (11.5 mil thickness). This particular Tesla is one of a handful we have done in Ultra Defense, which is exclusively offered at Jay’s Detail Studio in this area of the country. This thicker film is an ideal choice for those who are seeking stronger protection in harsh climates and tough road conditions. Simply put, SunTek Ultra Defense PPF offers our highest level of impact resistance in a clear, self-healing paint protection film.

To get started, as always, we begin with a decontamination bath to remove all contaminants from the paint.

After the paint is decontaminated, we complete any paint correction needed to remove scratches, swirls and other paint defects. We want these to be removed before we apply the film as we will not have the opportunity to correct these defects once the film is applied.

Once the correction is complete, we begin with our signature installation process of the material. We use full width material so that we can cover the desired panels without any seams or edges whenever possible. This allows to a much better final result that is hard to even detect on the vehicle.

Here you can see the entire hood being covered in one piece of Ultra Defense. This will be one hood that won’t be peppered with stone chips!

After we completed the paint protection film installation, the windows received 3M Ceramic 25% window tint on the front doors and 70% over the rear factory tint to help reject additional heat. We also installed 3M Crystalline window film on the windshield for additional heat rejection. These window films from 3M not only look great, they will make this cabin a very comfortable place to be while protecting the interiors from sun damage.

After the window tint was installed, we applied Gtechniq Crystal Serum ceramic paint coating to all painted surfaces. This coating will not only protect the surface from being damaged by environmental contaminants, it will also make the vehicle much easier to keep clean. Below you see the IR lamps curing the Gtechniq coating.

Look at the final results. Not only does this Tesla Model Y look great, it will have the highest level of protection we offer to keep it looking that way.
