Nissan GTR Paint Correction/ Cquartz Finest

CALL (210) 863-1633

We received a phone call from a Nissan GTR owner that was interested in getting his vehicle polished. After speaking to the customer & looking at the car we decided to go with our Paint Correction Service & finish it off with Cquartz Finest Coating to protect the finish for 2+ years. Cquartz Finest will add depth, gloss & a hardness that’ s resistant to scratches, bird droppings & bug staining that no other wax or sealant can match. So upon arrival we washed the car and here is what we were up against as far as the finish goes.

So after inspecting the finish we pulled the vehicle in and started with the decontamination process, which revealed little to not contaminants at all.

As soon as we started polishing we noticed a huge improvement over the current condition of the paint. Nissan claims that the paint on the GTR is a hard clear coat. Our paint polishing process proved otherwise. Here are some shots of sections after compounding. I did notice that after compounding the finish was a little hazy, which was removed with our second polishing step.

Here is where there is a noticeable difference. The lighting we use in this shop is designed to see defects in paint, window tint & paint protection film. As illustrated below the finish on the hood as it came in is located on the left. Our compounding process is on the right. We did finish polish the right side of the hood.

Which can be seen below. As we brought it out in the sun to inspect the work. The goal here was to remove as many defects as possible while still keeping the integrity of the finish as priority.

You can see the depth and gloss that the right side of the hood has compared to the untouched side. So we found our process and we proceeded to use this method on the rest of the car.

Here is a before shot of the carbon fiber trunk.

In the net picture there is going to be a night and day difference in picture. This before shot is of the roof of the GTR. If you look closely there is a skylight in the shop located on the ceiling which can be seen in the picture on the bottom left.

After the section was compounded and polished with our paint correction process the results were noting but stunning. In the after picture it doesn’t seem like it is the same picture, however look for the skylight and it is in fact the same picture. You will also notice the lovely mug of my assistant we’ll call him Mr. Brown lol.

Certain sections of the rear bumper did require rotary polishing which is a lost art. This rear bumper was polished roughly 4-5 times before we ended up with the results we were going for. This picture below was of the passenger side of the rear bumper. Previously the bumper was repainted and the sanding marks were still evident. So some light wet sanding was needed to remove some of the texture and sanding marks that were still left behind.

After 2 hours of polishing this little section we ended up with this.

There is some still some light hazing which will be removed with our finessing step. 30 hours later of labor intensive polishing and more polishing. I started coating the vehicle with the Cquartz Finest on this vehicle we used roughly 25cc’s which is a little more than recommended. However when you come to Jays Detail we like to give everyone their moneys worth. So theres no 2 coats here, you either get half a bottle or the whole bottle which is about 50cc’s. We like to think of it as GO BIG OR GO HOME!.  After the 24 hour cure time the customer was contacted that their vehicle was ready for pick up. So we pulled it outside for some shots before he showed up. Here is the final result.

Remember that door that was all scratched and hazed? Or that rear bumper piece that was scratched?

And the last pic of them all…. It displays our work, which involves a lot of passion and love for what we do.
