Lotus Elise Needs Mid-Life Facelift with Clear Bra Removal & Replacement

From the time the Lotus Elise was introduced, it turned heads. For one, it is a very small car. For another, it looks like something from another planet. This car came in a bright red paint job that even grabbed more attention. However, this particular car was in desperate need of a mid-life facelift. It had an older paint protection film kit that had discolored and needed replaced and the paintwork had a lot of scratching a swirling that needed corrected. We knew this car still had all that original beauty waiting to be revealed again, so we dived right in with a clear bra removal, paint correction, re-installation of next generation paint protection film and a space age paint coating.
The first thing we would do was put the car through a full paint decontamination bath. This thorough cleaning helps eliminate any contaminants from the exterior surface of the car before we begin. This also allows us to have a completely clean surface to inspect and determine the best path forward.
The first step was removing old paint protection film that had discolored. This is a common issue with paint protection films from years ago. They often either begin to peel or discolor and ultimately become an eyesore. The removal of this older clear bra and any adhesive left behind leaves a clean vehicle for us to begin correcting.
