Audi RS Q8 Full Wrap With SunTek Paint Protection Film & CQuartz Finest

This new offering from Audi is a beast! Featuring 591 horsepower and a sprint from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, this is no ordinary SUV. As Audi states about this vehicle, “Audi RS Q8 combines the genes of a high-performance RS model with the practicality of an SUV and the dynamic design of an Audi coupe. Featuring a bi-turbo V8 engine to deliver exhilarating performance and driving dynamics.” This particular unit came in a great color Audi calls Daytona Grey Pearl. The owner wanted to protect this rocketship while navigating the roads, so it was brought to us for a full body wrap using SunTek paint protection film followed by all protected surfaces and wheel receiving a coating of CQuartz Finest Reserve ceramic paint coating.

That’s a lot of work, so let’s jump right in. One of the first things we do with nearly every car we work on is a decontamination foam bath. Even on brand new cars, there are often surface contaminants that we need to remove before we begin applying paint protection film. This deep soaking process helps to dislodge these contaminants so that we have a clean surface to begin applying film.

This vehicle was getting a full coverage SunTek paint protection film package. That means all painted surfaces on the vehicle are covered. As you will see in the pictures that follow, we use large width pieces of material so that we can cover the panels with one piece to eliminate and visible edges or seams. Here the front fender is being protected.

You can see from this picture of the door being protected that we remove door handles and trim to get full coverage and hide and seams or edges. This is huge difference between what we do at Jay’s and what you may see other places. It is not uncommon for others to trim the material around this area to avoid removing the handle. this method leaves unsightly visible edges at an area you look at all the time. Not ideal.

For the same reasons, we remove the tail lights to wrap the product behind so that there will be no visible seams or edges. You can also see the one piece carrying on to the C pillar and roof panel.

After the paint protection film was applied, we fully coated all protected surfaces and the wheel with CQuartz Finest Reserve ceramic paint coating.
